Black and whites images

I love looking at Black and White pictures taken by my father. His foundry series, exposed under difficult lighting conditions are a prime example of his photo-journalist approach. Dad uses an elderly Leica M2 and 50mm Sum micron for
Available light assignments where flash and the use of tripods are not allowed.

Colour photography has impact when used for subjects that cry out for colour such as sports, flowers and colourfull scenic's. Two brothers at a their Nan's funeral- the 18 year –old cuddling the 3 years old who's expression is infinitely sad although he is not old enough to understand the solemnity or purpose of the service...

The shot was exposed using a Canon 30 D with 85.1.8 USM using available light. It is a moment in time captured by an observant photographer and says more about the occasion than shots of coffins or flowers or black clad relatives.
